Only You was started by Mike and Kelly Fedak to honor the memory of their son Mikey.  Mikey was a 10 year-old boy from Fairfield, Connecticut who had special needs and passed away unexpectedly in April 2013 at the age of 10.  He was a truly special child, who in his brief time here, worked very hard to overcome his many challenges, but also really enjoyed life.  He was always very happy and had a positive effect on everyone he met.  He brought love and joy to his family, his friends and classmates and his many therapists every day.  Though his life on this earth was brief, Mikey spread love and light wherever he went. Those who were blessed to have known Mikey were showered with the pureness of his love, his enjoyment of the simplest things, and his capacity to influence the hearts and souls of anyone he came into contact with. Though Mikey never spoke in words, he was the most beautiful communicator. He was able share his love for life and everything he did with each person who got to know him. Through his eyes, through his smile, through his ”high-fives”, Mikey spread a message of joy and love. His smile was infectious and everyone who worked and played with him left feeling better for their time together. To know him was to love him.  Although he is greatly missed, what he taught his family and friends about complete and unconditional love will stay with them forever.  Only You was established to honor that legacy by seeking to enhance and improve the lives of special needs children and their families.

Inspired by their strong desire to have the positive effect that Mikey had on people's lives continue, and very much aware of the challenges (including financial ones) faced by a family raising a child with special needs, Mike and Kelly decided to start Only You to provide assistance to these children and their families.  They had often talked about trying to start a program like this to help those families meet those challenges and provide other support and now hope to take all of the energy that they gave to Mikey and focus it on fulfilling this vision.

"Only You" was Mikey's favorite song.  He LOVED music and had a lot of favorites but this song written by Joey Spampinato and recorded by NRBQ in 1972 was very different.   From the sound of the first note, he would laugh and smile through the entire song.  Anybody who spent time with him had downloaded the song on their phone and whenever he looked like he needed a "boost" they would play it for him - it was like magic.

Mikey's family belong to Greenfield Hill Congregational Church. They held a Celebration of Life for him where his family and friends spoke about him and Mikey's older brother performed "Only You" with a few of his friends.  Here is a link to YouTube recording of the service:
